Prismatic Shapes es un proyecto musical formado en enero de 2017 en Ciudad de México, dirigido por el vocalista y escritor Pedro Gopar.

Concebido como “un medio para manifestar su fascinación por la cultura pop de los años ochenta y la era del videocasete”, su estilo musical ha sido descrito como “new wave retro y melancólico” por el portal belga SnoozeControl. //

Prismatic Shapes is a musical project formed in January 2017 in Mexico City, directed by vocalist and writer Pedro Gopar.

Conceived as “a means of expressing his fascination for the pop culture of the eighties and the era of the video cassette”, his musical style has been described as “new wave retro and melancholic” by the Belgian portal SnoozeControl.

GLOOMY AFTERNOON

Dentro de la escena mexicana el lanzamiento de su primer EP los posicionó como la propuesta del mes en la revista impresa de Time Out México, además de ser mencionados en el music vault de Vans como la propuesta “Freeeeshh”,  y  entrar al conteo de Filter México de 10 bandas Goth que necesitas escuchar ahora mismo.

El éxito del track Empty Process continua al ser incluido dentro de la banda sonora de la serie de Netflix La Casa de las Flores logrando mantenerse durante algunas semanas dentro de los 50 más virales de México en Spotify lo que consolidó  este track como el primer hit

del proyecto.

Posteriormente la producción cinematográfica del director Humberto Hinojosa titulada “Un papá pirata” decide tomar Gloomy Afternoon canción que lleva el mismo titulo del primer Ep para formar parte del soundtrack de la película que cuenta con las actuaciones de Miguel Rodarte, Luis de la Rosa y Natasha Dupeyrón. //

Inside of  the Mexican scene, the release of their first EP positioned them as the proposal of the month in the Time Out Mexico print magazine, in addition to being mentioned in the Vans music vault as the proposal “Freeeeshh”, and entering the Filter México ten top of  Goth bands you need to listen right now.

The success of the track Empty Process continues to be included in the soundtrack of the Netflix series La Casa de las Flores, managing to stay for a few weeks within the 50 most viral in Mexico on Spotify, which consolidated this track as the first hit of Prismatic Shapes.

Mientras el proyecto se encontraba componiendo su segunda producción participaron en un remix para la banda Mexico alemana Rabia Sorda, el cual fue editado bajo el sello internacional Out of Line. y formaron parte del compilado nacional México Underground Volumen 1

editado por el sello Sector Industrial. //

While the project was composing its second production, they participated in a remix for the German band Mexico Rabia Sorda, which was released under the international label Out of Line. and they were part of the national compilation México Underground Volumen 1 published by the Sector Industrial label.

DEADBEAT

Este año se encuentran de regreso presentando Deadbeat LP que contó con la participación de Fernando Barragán de CETERA Estudios como Ingeniero de Mezcla y Erk Aicrag de Hocico/Rabia Sorda como Ingeniero de Masterización en Red Room studio en Alemania. En esta nueva entrega se logra un estilo diferente de post-punk etéreo, uno que abraza con persistencia los parajes del shoegaze. El concepto “modernidad líquida” en materia sociológica se entiende como toda realidad sólida en la que creían (y vivían) nuestros abuelos que, sin embargo, se ha desvanecido y resulta carente de todo significado ante la mirada crítica contemporánea. Basados en guitarras nítidas y sintetizadores atmosféricos, Prismatic Shapes ha desarrollado un estilo propio y ecléctico en el cual el

post-punk, el shoegaze y la new wave convergen en una nostalgia envolvente. El disco ha recibido reseñas en revistas especializadas  como Filter Mexico, Marvin y medios enfocados en el lifestyle como Time Out México y  Playboy México. Han sido incluido entre los lanzamientos destacados de Apple Music., entrando al playlist Sinisters Sounds compartiendo el lugar de artistas destacados a lado de Zola Jesus, Molchat Doma, Drab Majesty y más. //

This year they are back presenting Deadbeat LP which had the participation of Fernando Barragán from CETERA Estudios as Mixing Engineer and Erk Aicrag from Hocico / Rabia Sorda as Mastering Engineer at Red Room studio in Germany. In this new material, a different style of ethereal post-punk is achieved, one that persistently embraces shoegaze landscapes. The concept of “liquid modernity” in sociological matters is understood as any solid reality in which our grandparents believed (and lived) which, however, has vanished and is devoid of all meaning before the contemporary critical gaze. Based on crisp guitars and atmospheric synthesizers, Prismatic Shapes has developed its own eclectic style in which post-punk, shoegaze and new wave converge in an enveloping nostalgia. The album has received reviews in specialized magazines such as Filter Mexico, Marvin and media focused on lifestyle such asTime Out México and Playboy México. They have been included among the featured Apple Music releases, entering the Sinisters Sounds playlist sharing the spot of featured artists alongside Zola Jesus, Molchat Doma, Drab Majesty and more.
